A History of Caring

Established in 1958 on the site of the Carothers family farm, Valley Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home encompasses 40 acres, of which 15 acres are developed area, and a spectacular 6-acre horseshoe-shaped lake. We are proud to be recognized as the first Green Burial Cemetery in Oregon certified by the Green Burial Council. With 14 gardens including traditional burial spaces, cremation gardens, lawn crypts, mausoleum crypts, cremation niches, and lakefront estates, Valley has the perfect option for your family’s wishes.

One of the most interesting and most asked about features of our Park are our Memorial Columns – a natural Basalt column set at lakeside on the peninsula. This location is the ideal setting to memorialize those whose remains have been scattered on our lake or for families that have scattered loved ones elsewhere.

Valley was specifically designed to provide practical and meaningful memorial services. We offer a full range of services from traditional funerals to simple direct cremation, including preparation for Green Burial and scattering of ashes in our lake with lakeside memorial services.

Our Staff’s Dedication to Respectful Care

A funeral, or memorial service, should provide family members and loved ones with the chance to reflect, remember, and celebrate a life well-lived. At Valley Memorial Park, our goal is to create exceptional services and experiences that fulfill the wishes of your loved one. Our experienced Funeral Directors provide guidance on the crucial first steps toward healing.

Dean Markasky
Location Leader

Dean is the Manager of Valley Memorial Park and Funeral Home and is a licensed Funeral Director.

He has been at Valley since 2002, after having spent 16 years in the insurance industry.

Dean is very client focused and sums up his philosophy in these words:

“I help families preplan final arrangements. I see my role as that of a trusted advisor, guiding my clients through what, to many, is a "minefield" of choices & decisions. I do my best to demystify the process by "drawing back the curtain", providing whatever information they need to design a plan that is both dignified and meaningful”.

Dean is an avid walker, birdwatcher and photographer – many of his photographs can be seen on the company website and Facebook pages.

Dean is married and has a son.

John Gruber

John understands the importance of these duties since he has previously served as a Family Service Advisor assisting families both for pre arrangements and at the time of need for a family.

John earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
